Terms and conditions of Use

By placing an Order with Sharif Photographic Supplies, you agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions as laid out below. These do not affect your statutory rights. Any contract created by placing an order with us will be governed by Scottish law

Ordering

We accept orders via our website, by email, telephone or post. The important thing is that we know exactly what you require; please therefore include as many details as possible. All web orders are acknowledged and availability of goods confirmed; unless previously discussed.

We aim to ship all orders within 48 hours of receipt of order; assuming goods are in stock and allowing for Weekends and Business holidays. If not, we will let you know; and will advise, to the best of our knowledge, how long they are likely to be and the options open to you as a result

If you wish to wait, we accept your order and await our delivery and ship as soon as they arrive in to stock, if you wish to cancel your order any monies already paid will be refunded immediately.

If your order can be partially completed except for a few small items, we can arrange for these to follow usually by post at No additional cost.

All orders placed via our website are charged immediately, by our UK secure online payment service provider: Worldpay.

All goods remain the property of Sharif Photographic Supplies until paid in full.

We offer accurate advice and information to the best of our ability but cannot be held responsible for any errors conveyed verbally or through descriptions and specifications on our website.  In the unlikely event that an incorrect price is shown on our website, we reserve the right to abstain from fulfilling the order at that price. We will of course notify you and will give you the correct price and delivery charges so that you can choose to proceed with the order or not.

VAT and Duty

All Website prices include VAT (currently at 20%) unless otherwise stated.  VAT rules and regulations in the UK are strict; and it is essential to our business that we work within them - therefore there will be no exceptions for any reason whatsoever.

Outside of the EU there is no VAT payable; however; you may be liable for local Customs duty and or taxes. Please check with your local authorities what is applicable as we are unable to advise on this.

Duty is payable to the courier on or prior to delivery of the goods; who will have already paid these in advance on your behalf to clear customs - they may also add a brokerage fee for this service - we cannot be responsible for these.

We do our best with the use of the correct tariff codes and paperwork to minimise this liability – however, these charges are completely outside of our control.

Under no circumstances can we under value goods on paperwork to reduce Customs and duty charges. This constitutes fraud and has serious implications for us. Please do not ask us to do so.

Secure Ordering Process

Using features included with internet browsing software and a secure server, your orders are processed securely. When the secure symbol is displayed, your order is encrypted by the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to ensure the security of the information when it is transmitted to the secure server; having completed the order page together with your personal details; then you are directed through to the Streamline or Paypal payment page.

Carriage and Delivery

All carriage charges are based on what it costs us (we do not intend to profit on carriage charges) - this includes insurance and packing charges.

We prefer to use DPD Courier service or Royal Mail signed for service for the dispatch of our goods.

Carriage Charges are for UK Mainland ONLY, please contact us prior to ordering for other destinations - i.e. Islands, Ireland, Europe, 

Delivery times quoted are our best estimates of the service offered by our couriers and we shall not be held liable for any consequential loss or damage resulting from failure to meet these times.

Warranties: All our equipment (unless stated otherwise) is brand new unopened goods; supplied with a UK warranty which is as standard 12 months; though some manufacturers do offer longer: full details on the product descriptions.

Goods that are Faulty within the warranty period will therefore need to be returned to the UK to be sorted - unless advised otherwise - at the customers cost.

Please contact us before returning faulty goods; so, we can advise of the correct paperwork etc required.

We reserve the right to replace / refund / repair goods under warranty.

Goods returned faulty within 14 days in as new condition in their original packaging with all the components intact will be replaced or the monies refunded; up to 28 days the goods will be replaced or the monies refunded at our discretion; after 28 days or in soiled condition will be repaired under warranty.

Sharif Photographic Supplies shall not be liable for any consequential loss or damage resulting from the supply of goods or services or their failure, malfunction or unsuitability or any circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Returns

As all our new equipment is (unless stated otherwise) unopened; we do not sell on a 'sale or return' Basis. Please be sure that the equipment you are ordering is what you require and is suitable for your purpose (We are happy to advise).

Please note: Due to legal and contractual requirements, we are unable under any circumstances to accept back for return any film or sensitised materials (film, darkroom paper, chemistry etc) unless they are found to be faulty.

If despite this, you wish to return goods to us please contact us first.

We reserve the right to make a restocking fee for goods correctly supplied and will only accept goods in new condition, in their original packaging with all components intact with the unused warranty paperwork.

All returns must be accompanied by the original sales invoice within 14 days. Please Note that we do not refund Carriage costs unless the goods were incorrectly supplied.

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchases, in accordance with the law we offer a 14 day "cooling off/cancellation" policy. If for any reason you are not happy please return the goods within 14 calendar days of receipt and we will replace, exchange or refund items at your request – subject to the following conditions:

  • The goods must be returned with all accessories, packaging, instructions, etc and must be in the original, clean, unused condition it was supplied in.
  • Where products have obviously been used, or items are missing, no replacements, exchanges or refunds will be given.
  • Where an item is not accepted for refund, the customer will be responsible for the cost of return to them at our standard rates.
  • The customer will be responsible for any carriage costs incurred when returning the goods to us.
  • A Returns Number (RMA No) must accompany all returns together with the original invoice and the customers contact details including a telephone number. An RMA No may be obtained by phoning the Sales Helpline on 01461 206578
